What nib members get
1
Agreed rates on common treatments
As a First Choice network practice we charge nib’s agreed rates on commonly claimed treatments — lowering your out-of-pocket cost and making your extras limits last longer.
2
Covers the treatments you actually use
Agreed rates apply across check-ups, fillings, mouthguards, root canal therapy, minor dental surgery and urgent same-day appointments.
3
Know the cost before we start
You’ll get a clear, itemised quote before any treatment begins. No surprises.
Your benefit depends on your policy. Level of cover, remaining annual limit and waiting periods all affect what you get back. Call your nearest clinic with your membership number for a free quote before you book. Full terms at the foot of this page.
More back in your pocket — every visit
Same treatment. Same dentist. Same chair. The difference is that when you see a preferred provider, nib pays a higher benefit and we’ve agreed to charge nib’s capped fees. Both sides of the sum move in your favour — so the gap you actually pay gets smaller.
A higher benefit

An agreed, capped fee

Less out of your pocket
You get a bigger rebate
At a preferred provider, nib pays a higher benefit than it does at a non-network clinic. Same procedure — more of it comes back to you.
Our fees are capped
We charge nib’s agreed price list — rates negotiated to sit below what clinics outside the network typically charge for the same work.
So your gap shrinks
Bigger rebate plus a capped fee means less to pay at the desk. On preventive care with several of our funds, that gap can be $0.
Nothing to claim back
It’s all settled at the chair through HICAPS. Your rebate applies instantly — you pay the gap, if there is one, and leave.
The honest caveat: exactly what you get back depends on your level of cover, how much of your annual limit is left, and any waiting periods. Bring your card and we’ll run a free HICAPS quote before we start, so you know your out-of-pocket cost up front. Full terms at the foot of this page.

nib dental questions, answered
Where are your nib preferred provider clinics in Melbourne?
We hold First Choice network status at 5 My Dentist Network clinics: Lynbrook Dental Care (Lynbrook), Carrum Downs Family Dental (Carrum Downs), Cranbourne Family Dental (Cranbourne), Langwarrin Family Dental (Langwarrin), Lang Lang Dental (Lang Lang). All are in Melbourne’s south-east.
What do nib members get at a preferred provider?
Agreed rates that stretch your extras limits further for members with eligible cover, plus agreed fees on other general dental treatment — which means a lower gap than at a non-network practice. Your exact benefit depends on your level of cover, annual limits and waiting periods.
Do you accept nib at your other clinics too?
Yes — all five of our clinics hold this status, and all accept every other Australian health fund too.
How do I claim my nib rebate?
You don’t have to do anything. We process it at the chair through HICAPS — your rebate applies instantly and you pay only the gap, if any.
When do my dental limits reset?
For most extras policies, annual limits reset on 1 January and unused benefit does not roll over. If you haven’t had a check-up this year, book before you lose it.

Important information about health fund benefits
- Benefits, rebates and out-of-pocket costs depend entirely on your individual level of cover, your annual limits, any waiting periods, and each fund's rules. The information below is a general summary only and is not a guarantee of benefit. Always confirm your entitlements directly with your fund before treatment — or ask our reception team and we'll run a HICAPS quote for you at no cost.
- nib First Choice network: nib First Choice providers offer agreed fees on many commonly claimed treatments. First Choice is an agreed-rate network — it is separate from nib's No Gap dental network. Fees are reviewed at least annually and are subject to change. Annual limits, waiting periods and T&Cs apply. Benefits depend on your level of nib Extras cover. Full details at nib.
